About Me
I believe therapy begins with feeling heard, understood, and safe enough to be yourself. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, with a focus on helping people understand how their experiences have shaped the ways they think, feel, relate to others, and respond to the world around them.
Much of my work focuses on adolescents and adults who have experienced trauma, including childhood abuse or neglect, sexual and interpersonal violence, difficult or unpredictable family environments, incarceration, substance use and recovery, and grief and loss. I have a particular interest in working with adolescents as they navigate identity, relationships, family conflict, emotional challenges, and the effects of difficult or traumatic experiences.
My approach increasingly emphasizes somatic and nervous-system-based work, along with parts-informed approaches and principles from Coherence Therapy. Rather than simply trying to eliminate symptoms or unwanted behaviors, I am interested in helping clients understand what those responses may be doing for them, where they came from, and whether they are still needed.
More important than any particular technique is the relationship we build together. I believe meaningful change is more likely when you feel genuinely understood rather than analyzed or judged.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before coming to therapy. We can start with where you are and determine together where you would like to go.
