Calm Waters Counseling in Boise, Idaho
Life can be difficult, and sometimes the things you’re dealing with become too much to manage on your own. Individual counseling gives you a private, supportive place to talk openly about what is happening, understand what you’re feeling, and work toward practical ways to move forward.
At Calm Waters Counseling, our licensed mental health professionals work with people facing a wide range of challenges, from anxiety and depression to trauma, grief, major life changes, and difficult personal circumstances.
Counseling That Starts With You
You don't need to have everything figured out before asking for help.
People come to counseling for many different reasons. Some know exactly what they want to work on. Others simply know that something doesn’t feel right, life has become harder to manage, or the strategies they have relied on in the past are no longer working.
Our counselors take the time to understand what you’re experiencing, what is affecting your day-to-day life, and what you would like to change.
Together, you and your counselor can identify concerns, establish goals, build healthier coping skills, and work through the experiences that may be keeping you from moving forward.

Medicaid & Medicare Counseling
Helping make mental health care more accessible.
Calm Waters Counseling proudly serves Medicaid and Medicare clients. Finding a counselor who accepts your insurance can sometimes be difficult, particularly for Medicare clients. Our goal is to make it easier to understand your options and connect you with the appropriate member of our team.
Insurance participation and provider credentialing can vary by counselor, so our office will help verify your coverage and determine which providers may be available to you.
What Does Counseling Look Like?
A collaborative approach to your mental health.
Depending on your needs, counseling may include:
Understanding what you're experiencing
Your counselor will listen, ask questions, and help you make sense of the thoughts, emotions, experiences, and circumstances affecting your mental health.
Identifying patterns
Sometimes past experiences, relationships, behaviors, or ways of coping continue to affect us long after we realize it. Counseling can help you recognize those patterns and understand how they are influencing your life today.
Building practical skills
Therapy can help you develop healthier ways to manage stress, anxiety, difficult emotions, communication, relationships, and everyday challenges.
Setting meaningful goals
Your goals for counseling should reflect what matters to you. Your counselor will work with you to identify what you would like to change and help you make progress toward those goals.
Assessing mental health concerns
When appropriate, licensed counselors can help assess mental health symptoms and determine whether additional evaluation, treatment, or support may be beneficial.
Support designed to meet you where you are.
